Our Intention

Yoga Element is truly a hidden gem in Youngstown. We are a trauma-informed yoga studio with a strong focus on mental health. All of our teachers will encourage you to do what feels right in your own body. There is no such thing as being “good” or “bad”  at yoga and our community emphasizes yoga as a module to heal the body and mind. Our teachers will guide you in such a way that each class becomes the ultimate form of self-care. You’ll learn the therapeutic aspects of yoga and how to listen to the story your body is trying to tell you. Our teachers will also encourage you to modify yoga poses to suit your own needs and to take a resting meditation whenever you need stillness. Every class focuses on meditation and intention as well as the physical aspects of the practice. This is traditional yoga - a union of mind, body and spirit.

As soon as you walk down the stairs and into our yoga lounge, you will breathe a sigh of relief and feel a sense of coming home. You will see yoga students of all ages, body types, and levels of practice in our studio. You’ll know you’ve come to the right place to explore the depths of your own healing. You will be welcomed with open arms, like family. You’ll feel deep in your bones that you can relax, trust the process and let go. You’ll sense that nobody is judging you and you’re surrounded by likeminded people on a path to healing.

Then when you enter our practice space, any last bits of tension will melt away because the atmosphere is so cozy, warm and inviting. We keep our practice room dimly lit with candles and salt lamps so you can be assured there’s no pressure to perform or execute a perfect yoga posture. You’ll realize you can truly just be as you are. Our space is comfortably heated to soften and relax your body and to encourage enhanced flexibility within a safe range of motion.

We are a community of compassionate, laidback  practitioners. You don’t need any fancy yoga clothes. You can simply wear what makes you feel the most comfortable. Sweatpants, shorts, leggings or whatever attire feels best for you is encouraged. Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. We have yoga mats and various props you can borrow if needed.

At Yoga Element, we all hold space for each other to go within. “We’re all just walking each other home.” ~ Ram Dass
